Out of the Orphanage
I wasn't always beautiful, soft and fat; although I have always had big eyes. Even before Mommy gave me my name.

I used to be an orphan without any name. When Mommy first saw me, I was living in a little cage at a kind of animal orphanage called the SPCA.

One day Mommy and Daddy and a tall blond headed stranger came in looking for a cat to adopt. Daddy and the stranger looked everywhere at all the other cats, telling Mommy about which cats were good (looking). Instead of listening to them, Mommy came to MY cage, and we looked deep into each others eyes and fell in love. I thought she didn't know we were in love at first, because she walked away, but then she came back and said "This is the one. I want this one."

Mommy and Daddy got me out of my cage and took me to a desk where Daddy signed some papers that told the world I wasn't an orphan anymore. When they asked what my name was, Daddy (who I found out was not terribly bright) said that it must be Tabby because that's what the sign said on my cage. Mommy looked at Daddy and rolled her eyes, then explained to Daddy that that is the KIND of cat I am. That makes me a lucky cat, because if Mommy hadn't been there I could have been named "Tabby. Very Very Shy. Two Years Old." because that's what was written on the card.

It wasn't until Mommy and Daddy took me to my new home that they saw why I was so shy.
